bridesmaidery and the bar exam
I have two friends getting married next year and have been asked to be a bridesmaid in both weddings. Unfortunately, one is out of town (about a 4 hour drive) and right in the middle of bar review. There has been some conflict between this friend and I in discussing the importance of the bar vs. the importance of a wedding, a quite dreadful comparison to make. We're trying to work it out. Essentially, I would need to spend a Thursday and Friday in transit/ at wedding events. I wish Bar/Bri released the schedule earlier so I could figure out what, if anything, I would be missing. I don't want the test to come before a friendship, but I also have worked really hard for this and want to do everything in my power to pass that fucker on the first try. Thoughts?

I was absolutely riddled with angst at any thought of a conflict with BarBri. When BarBri actually came along, it turned out that it was very, very flexible. To say the least.
Depending on what city you're in, there will likely be morning, afternoon and evening classes. I was enrolled for the morning class, and there was a time that I had a morning appointment, and attended the evening instead - all I had to do was walk in. No arrangements were necessary.
I took the Massachusetts exam (a month ago), and b/c MA is a small state, I was also able to attend the live class a week before it was scheduled for my video location. I knew in advance I was going to miss the a.m. video for Wills. I looked at the live schedule, and it was taping Wills a week prior to the one I had to miss. I went to that instead and missed nothing.
Finally, BarBri provides iPod videos. I think you have to go to your local office to watch them. I never did this, b/c I preferred to be in a classroom with other learners around me, and I had those options. But if you don't (if the live class is down south or whatever), this is an option.
I have a friend who was in a wedding (family, impossible to get out of) the weekend of July 14th - less than 2 weeks before the bar, and she was FINE.
If it's in the middle of BarBri (June?), then it's still sort of far away from the actual test. You can make up the classes with BarBri, and you can just work super hard the week before and after to keep up with after-class assignments.
If it were July, my own anxiety likely wouldn't let me do it. But you'd probably be fine, even then.

Is the wedding on a Saturday? Is it possible to miss some of the "pre-events"? I'm assuming this is one of those modern weddings that drag on for several days.

No, the wedding is on a Friday and the rehearsal is on a Thursday at 2. But, I decided that I'm going to do it and I'll figure out a way to make up whatever Bar/Bri stuff I miss.
