Total - All Loans
$110, 338.00 (which, by the way does not include my bar study loan)
"Are you happy to graduate?"
"Not really. They sort of put a damper on the joy with the whole giving you your loan statement and starting the bar study class the day after graduation, ya know?"

That is absurd. It should not cost that much to attend a state school and then work in the public service sector.

if you don't mind being asked, did you get much in the way of non-loan financial aid (e.g., grants, scholarships, etc.?)
cullen:
I'm a classmate of skholar. There are grants available (~5-6k), but they are based on financial need. So if you made a decent amount of money last year, you won't get it, or if you're married and your spouse works, you won't get it.
There are scholarships to be had, but they are not as generous as those at a private university.
Unfortunately, law school = loans.
I actually got a 5K grant each year, which is nice, but still obviously pales in comparison to the amount I had to take out in loans.
cool. thanks! i asked because i am very strongly considering hastings for the fall, and they just sent me a scholarship offer that definitely helps, but i'm still trying to wrap my mind around how much debt i'm looking at.
